If you’ve ever stood in the produce aisle wondering “Is organic really worth it?” – you’re not alone.

The truth is not all fruits and veggies are created equal when it comes to pesticide exposure. Each year, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) releases two helpful guides: the Dirty Dozen and the Clean 15. These lists can help you make smarter, budget-friendly decisions at the grocery store—especially if you’re trying to support your fertility and hormone health.

The Dirty Dozen are the top fruits and vegetables most likely to be contaminated with pesticide residues. Because some pesticides contain hormone-disrupting chemicals, which can impact you whether you’re trying to conceive, in perimenopause, or somewhere in between , I recommend choosing organic versions of anything on this list whenever possible. It’s worth paying attention to.

Here’s the 2025 list:

Dirty Dozen (buy these organic if you can):

  1. Spinach
  2. Strawberries
  3. Kale, Collard & Mustard Greens
  4. Grapes
  5. Peaches
  6. Cherries
  7. Nectarines
  8. Pears
  9. Apples
  10. Blackberries
  11. Blueberries
  12. Potatoes

Clean 15:

  1. Pineapple
  2. Sweet corn
  3. Avocado
  4. Papaya
  5. Onion
  6. Frozen sweet peas
  7. Asparagus
  8. Cabbage
  9. Watermelon
  10. Cauliflower
  11. Bananas
  12. Mangoes
  13. Carrots
  14. Mushrooms
  15. Kiwi

Navigating fertility or perimenopause doesn’t have to be confusing or isolating. If you’re feeling off and not sure where to start, I’d love to help.
