Daylight Saving Time

Sunday, March 10, at 2am, we “spring forward” – our clocks move ahead an hour for Daylight Saving Time. And as a result, we get more sunlight later in the day. Hooray for that! Here in the Northeast sunrise will move from approximately 6am to 7am and sunset will move from approximately 5:45pm to 6:45pm. That extra hour of daylight is a bonus if you’re [...]

Green Juice in Your Blender

It’s National Green Juice Day! I have no idea when National Green Juice Day began (does it matter?) but I am ALL IN! Green juices are high in antioxidants and phytonutrients, both of which help the body get rid of free radicals and other potentially damaging toxins. Juicing or blending break down the cellular walls of greens, which are often tough to digest. This allows [...]

I had a great Tell-All Tuesday conversation with Kristen Darcy about fertility friendly foods to stock in your fridge and pantry. You can watch it here. And here’s a recap of what we talked about: What to Stock in Your Fertility Friendly Pantry If you’re trying to get pregnant, alcohol and caffeine are at the top of the list of things to avoid. Happy Holidays!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas, and that this holiday season brings you joy and laughter, the love of friends and family, gratitude and time for reflection. For those of us who need to turn up the TLC, I have a few quick suggestions. Find a few minutes to practice self-care: a warm bath, a massage, meditation or journaling. Thanksgiving and Gratitude

The holidays can be tough when you have infertility. I know – I’ve been there. You’re expected to be celebratory and festive, you might be surrounded by children, and if you are anything like I was, you just might not feel up to it. Sometimes I participated in holiday events, sometimes I declined. But either way, I practiced gratitude as a way to experience positivity [...]

Just. Breathe.

Ladies, listen up. It’s a fact. Infertility is stressful. Rates of anxiety and depression in women with infertility are as high as rates in women with HIV or Cancer Yikes – that is HUGE! I’m not going to tell you to just relax. But I am going to tell you to breathe. Deep breathing is a simple form of meditation. It gives your mind a [...]

Fertility Detox: BPA Edition

Bisphenol A – or BPA – is a hormone disruptor which mimics estrogen in the body. BPA is found in many plastics and the linings of food cans and bottle tops. Studies have shown negative effects on fertility by damaging egg quality and IVF success rates, and sperm quality. BPA is also linked to PCOS and recurrent miscarriage. The good news is you can limit [...]

My Authentic Self

I was listening to a podcast yesterday about being your authentic self. The speaker, Gabby Bernstein, said something that really resonated with me. She said that in being her authentic self, she hadn’t “become” anything. Rather she shed who she thought she should be. I love that. It’s so easy to get caught up in what you think you should be, or what other people’s [...]
