I’ve had conversations with several women over the last couple of weeks who told me their symptoms – including VERY painful and heavy periods – were being dismissed by their primary care doctors and ob/gyns.
They were told: painful, heavy periods are normal; it’s all in your head; take Motrin.
They were not getting pregnant, even with fertility treatment, and they knew deep down, it wasn’t normal.
They suspected it was endometriosis and they persisted to get a diagnosis.
At least 1 in 10 women have endometriosis.
Bloating, IBS-like symptoms, painful sex, heavy and painful periods are just some of the associated symptoms.
None of this should be normalized.
There are many approaches to treating and managing endo. A holistic approach includes looking at possible dietary factors, like a diet high in fats and fried foods, excessive caffeine and alcohol, not enough essential fatty acids, and perhaps a magnesium deficiency.
Pelvic PT and Arvigo massage can also help.
